Big Things Poppin

It’s been a few weeks since our latest blog post…Let’s fill you in with what’s been going on.

She said “Yes!”

Check out our hands logo…notice a difference?

Well…it’s not everyday that the co-founders of a company become engaged. Earlier this month, I popped the question! And yes, she did say “yes”. So Shu-Chu and I are engaged! Definitely very exciting times for us! Even as we meet with people and talk about 141 I have to correct myself when they ask about how we got started. I was used to saying “well…my girlfriend and I….”. Now it goes more like “well…my girlfr-…I mean fiancé and I”.

Anyways, enough about us…more about 141.

SF/Bay Area Market Travel

Shu-Chu and I will be in the SF/Bay Area April 28-May 3. We will be meeting with a few optometrists and opticians in the area to give them a preview of our debut collection, which is releasing this summer. We believe the Bay Area will be a great market for 141…plus it’s Sooch’s old stomping grounds. So in addition to meeting with doctors from the area, we will get to spend some QT with her family.

If you are interested in scheduling a preview of our collection, please let us know. We have a few time slots still available and would love to meet you.

141: The Movie

I was hoping that the title would have the impact of “Spaceballs: The Movie” but I feel like it got completely lost. Anyways…yes, we are making a 141 short film. We have hours upon hours of video footage from our very first 141 Eyewear Clinic in Jiasian, Taiwan. I’m sure everyone knows that for each pair of 141 Eyewear purchased, we give a new pair of prescription glasses to a person in need. This video will show you (1) the types of folks who receive our glasses, (2) how a free pair of glasses can improve their lives, and (3) how we go about running our 141 Eyewear Clinic. We will be releasing a 2 minute preview in early June quickly followed by a DVD which holds the actual short film. More details to come.

Also TOMS had their “One Day Without Shoes” campaign. I still think it would be a bad idea to have a “One Day Without Glasses”. Perhaps it could be something like “Go-to-a-safe-place-take-off-your-glasses-and-think-about-how-your-life-would-be-different-without-eyewear Day”. If anyone has an idea for a shorter name, please let me know.

Stay Glassy,
