Products With Purpose

141 Community,

Check out the blog below:

While reading through Jeff’s blog, I was trying to think of other companies who have built their business on being socially responsible. The first which came to mind is TOMS. Sooch and I are big fans of what TOMS has been able to do. I caught word of their business a few years ago through a co-worker at Nike and immediately found myself saying “why didn’t I think of that?!?!? I’m in the shoe business!”. Nevertheless, it’s inspiring to see how their company has been able to help thousands upon thousands of children. I was reading that they will be giving their millionth pair of shoes away this year. Phenomenal…

Reading Jeff’s blog gave me some additional insight to more companies who are building their brand based upon the foundation of being socially responsible. Is this the beginning of a movement? Personally, I hope it is…

Stay Glassy,

One of the best parts of creating a business model around a cause is the natural publicity and excitement that can be earned. Editors, journalists and the media at large is being over pitched with weak business stories of businesses creating corporate social responsibility campaigns (CSR). Companies that are actually based on social responsibility rather than simpling doing it as a publicity stunt are the stories they media are looking to promote.
